The latest Halliday Wine Companion results have put a spring in our step!

We are thrilled to announce that four of our wines were recently awarded in the prestigious Halliday Wine Companion.

“As a relatively new winery it’s an incredible achievement to be recognised once again by our peers and to have received such fantastic results,” says chief winemaker Liz Heidenreich.

“Such recognition by the Halliday Wine Companion is a wonderful acknowledgement that we are paving the way for future winemakers and are heading in the right direction to make Port Lincoln a premier future winemaking destination.”

2017 Estate Shiraz – Awarded Silver at 94 points, this drop is our highest-rated wine. Our Shiraz boasts a richness and intensity while still having elegance and fine tannin structure. Embodying aromas of bright red berry fruits and cherries, the palate is silky smooth with white pepper and fruit cake spice.

If you’re enjoying this drop from home, TeakCorp managing director Ben Teakle suggests pairing our shiraz with a delicious steak, something executive chef Mark Jensen seconds, recommending that guests to Line & Label pair this drop with our famous char grilled 250g sirloin.

2018 Estate Merlot – Taking out another Silver at 93 points, our Merlot is tight and perfumed, with flavours of plum, raspberry, and liquorice. The palate has a silky elegance and soft juicy tannins. It is medium bodied, with fine tannins on the finish.

Ben suggests the deep fruity notes of our merlot would go down a treat with a zesty Mexican dish or a spicy curry, and if you’re dining at The Line & Label, Mark recommends pairing this drop with our Penang duck curry or BBQ pork belly.

2019 Estate Riesling – Awarded Bronze at 89 points, our Riesling is packed with flavour and aromatics, and has a freshness and purity that speaks of the soils and region. The palate has lemon and lime citrus, with floral notes, and has a typical delicacy to it.

This wine pairs beautifully with all seafood, but particularly shellfish and oysters. Being based in the seafood capital of Australia, Mark proposes several dishes to be paired with the riesling, including our Bluefin tuna tartare, Eyre Peninsula market fish and our chilled Eyre Peninsula tasting plate.

2019 Estate Late Harvest Semillon – Scoring 86 points and a Bronze award, our semillon is deceitfully easy to drink. Perfectly suited as a wine to start the meal, as an aperitif, or as a dessert wine. The palate is rich and creamy with flavours of candied lemon rind and a buttery nut finish.

If you’re enjoying this drop from home, we recommend pairing it with a cheese platter made up of intensely flavoured cheeses or any rich buttery desserts like a classic cheesecake. If you’re dining at The Line & Label make sure to finish your experience on a sweet note with a glass of this Semillon accompanied with either a cheese plate or our coconut crème caramel or show stopping baklava.
